Sweet Pea 'Lunar Blue'
Sweet Pea 'Lunar Blue'
4 inch pot.
A mood-ring-in-flower-form, Lunar Blue knocked us OUT last year! A truly elusive coloring that was impossible to photograph or even begin to describe. Uprising Seeds made this available in 2019 and describe it best here:
“The color of our “Lunar Blue” sweet pea really needs to be seen to be believed. We released it in 2019 after finding and saving seed from a white sport in amongst another variety “Turquoise Lagoon” from renowned breeder Dr Kieth Hammett of New Zealand. It starts as white bloom with subtle shimmery undertones of blues and purples, but as it ages, especially after cutting, the blue tones become more and more pronounced. Crystine describes it as the blue version of “antique dusty rose”. It’s an extraordinary and surreal color. It also happens to be one of the most fragrant sweet peas of the many we grow.”
One of our favorite spring flowers is Lathyrus odoratus (better known by its common name, Sweet Pea). These highly fragrant, vigorous little climbers reach anywhere between 6-8 feet tall and explode into flower all spring long. These seeds are grown in our little greenhouse and are ready to plant when you get them home. Give them well-drained, rich soil and lots of compost throughout the season, they’re heavy feeders. Keep that soil moist!
