Delphinium semibarbatum
Delphinium semibarbatum
Our treasure, Delphinium semibarbatum — we’re absolutely thrilled to have some available to share with you!
This stunning species hails from Afghanistan and Iran, where it’s also known as “Zalil.” Widely considered one of the loveliest delphiniums, D. semibarbatum stands out for its unique butter-yellow flowers and tuberous roots, much like those of dahlias, unlike the fibrous roots typical of most delphiniums.
Although it originates in arid regions, D. semibarbatum surprisingly thrives in conditions that are average to slightly moist, rather than hot and dry. Providing it with some shade, especially in warmer climates, can help prevent it from going dormant. Keep this one watered and in part shade for the best show!
